Consultation With Another Possible Champion

Did a consultation with a 2nd lawfirm today. I figure it is a bit like a doctor, always want to get a second opinion when it comes to life altering procedures. The only reason I have even been able to get this far is that one of our credit cards offers a virtual card online, so I was able to at least pay for the consults. Still trying to avoid any unnecessary spending.

This consultation was much the same as the 1st, with the lawyer confirming everything I was already told. An interesting point of advice they gave was to just take time to get my finances in order and focus on myself. To wait for as long as I reasonably could for my spouse to file for divorce. They informed me that there was litterately no benefit for being “first to file”, and that this way I would be able to finish getting my affairs in order and re-situate myself financially. Further more, the filing fee would be on my spouse and it would hopefully avoid the need to hire a private investigator. In the end, worry about me first.

I was also advised to expect that one of the reasons my spouse had not offered up the code to the safe was that they had likely already taken the $3k in cash that was there along with possible other items and that my spouse was just trying to delay me finding out. I was also assured that such a strategy would not work as it was something that could easily be filed for in court and if my spouse still refused then they would be in contempt. In the end it would just be more procrastination on their part.

In an insane moment of syncronicity I received an email from Cannon informing me that they were terribly sorry, but that they could not locate the master code for my safe. Then they promptly closed the ticket. It gave me a bizaar sense of finality in the face of everything else going on.

Again I tried to contact my children, to let them know what was going on, to inform them that I was financially desperate. Could they, would they, please try to get the code. Did they know the code. Would they be willing to contact a lawyer instead of contacting me. Anything.

Again, only the one replied to tersely state that they were never given the code to the safe.

That would be the last message I received from any of my children so far.
